Introduction to ASMR
This video is brought to you by SoftlyGaloshes, an ASMRtist who was nice enough to make this video.
Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) is a neologism for a perceptual phenomenon characterized as a distinct, pleasurable tingling sensation in the head, scalp, back, or peripheral regions of the body in response to visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, and/or cognitive stimuli.
ASMR was first brought to my attention when I came across a youtube video for it, a friend then referred me to others. ASMR is something that if able to be done properly would have great effects for those with depression and anxiety, sleep issues, etc. I know that I have been able to trigger myself into an ASMR episode and have fallen asleep shortly after, or have watch affirmation videos, or relaxation asmr videos that have truly calmed me.
ASMR is not a substitute for medicines, and/or treatments but I truly believe that It is, and will become a great form of rehabilitation for those that suffer from emotional illnesses and insomnia.
